[한스경제=김창권 기자] SK Hynix announced on the 4th that it posted 8 trillion out of 128.8 billion won in consolidated sales and 1,299.7 billion won in operating profit in the third quarter of this year. This is an increase of 19% and 175%, respectively, compared to the same period last year. The net profit was KRW 1.77 trillion, an increase of 117.5% over the previous year.

SK Hynix reported a recovery in demand for mobile memory in the third quarter, but the memory market price declined due to weak demand for server DRAM and SSDs for data centers, resulting in sales and operating profit in the third quarter compared to the previous quarter. It was explained that it decreased by 6% and 33%.

Despite low customer demand for servers, as a result of active response to new mobile and graphics demand and growing demand from some consumers, DRAM shipments increased 4% compared to last quarter, but the Average selling price was due to lower prices for server DRAM, etc. It fell 7%.

NAND Flash shipments increased 9% QoQ due to increased sales of mobile products and SSDs for new game consoles, but the average sales price fell 10% due to weaker server products.

SK Hynix expects PC demand to continue in the fourth quarter as seasonal demand in the mobile market continues.

SK Hynix plans to focus on responding to mobile demand by expanding sales of LPDDR5 second generation (1Y) class 10 nano for DRAM, while expanding the uMCP market combined with high-capacity NAND flash. In addition, the company plans to strengthen its position in the server DRAM market based on quality competitiveness, such as increasing the share of products for high-capacity servers with 64GB or more and maximizing sales of HBM products.

NAND Flash also plans to improve profitability by actively responding to stable mobile demand and increasing the proportion of 128-layer-based products that began selling in earnest in the third quarter.

Meanwhile, SK Hynix CEO Lee Seok-hee, CEO of SK Hynix, will attend the day’s performance announcement to directly explain the plan to create social value through the acquisition of the Intel NAND business and the management of IS G.
