Four Samsung Electronics unions formed a joint front and requested negotiations with management. The Samsung Electronics National Workers ‘Union (4 unions) under the National Federation of Metal Workers’ Unions, the largest Korean Federation of Trade Unions, is also expected to sit at the negotiating table.

Four Samsung Electronics unions form a joint bargaining delegation
12 days <한경닷컴> As a result of the interview, the four Samsung Electronics unions successfully unified the bargaining group and submitted an official letter on the 10th, asking management to conduct joint bargaining. In addition to the 4 unions, Samsung Electronics has unions 1 (Samsung Electronics Office Workers Union), 2 (Wireless Networks Division) and 3 (Samsung Electronics Union, Accompanied).
The joint bargaining delegation of the four Samsung Electronics unions consists of 10 members. Launched in November of last year, 7 members from the 4 unions, which have the largest number of members, and one from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd union will participate. The representative is Jin Yun-seok, president of the fourth union.
Initially, they requested individual negotiation with management on the same day, just before requesting negotiation as a joint negotiation delegation. However, the management rejected this and the four unions again requested negotiations on behalf of the joint bargaining group.
The fourth union previously requested individual bargaining in April this year, but Samsung Electronics rejected it, saying it is already negotiating with the first and third unions.

Samsung Electronics “I will negotiate sincerely as in the past”
Because Samsung Electronics had been conducting individual negotiations with the first and third unions, Samsung Electronics did not respond to the fourth union’s request for negotiation. Samsung Electronics also requested an authorized interpretation by the Ministry of Employment and Labor in relation to the request for bargaining from the four unions.
In this sense, the Ministry of Employment and Employment is obliged to negotiate after receiving and presenting a consent form confirming that “the individual negotiation agreement of the 1st and 3rd union in which the negotiation is already in progress and that the effect of collective bargaining to conclude in individual bargaining is two years from the date of the individual bargaining decision. He also gave an interpretation of the voters in the sense of “do it.” Consequently, the fourth union completed the formation of a joint bargaining organization after consultation with the first, second and third unions.
The issues related to the negotiation are expected to be the content of the audit regulations and the personnel regulations. Salary negotiations are expected to be omitted from this bargaining table as it is in the existing agreement. However, the issue of so-called ‘PS (Profit Sharing)’ and ‘IP (Productivity Incentive)’ allocations is expected to rise to the negotiating table. The union insists on raising the base salary and reducing the allowance.
Since Samsung Electronics has already agreed to negotiate with the first and third unions, the position is that there are no changes in the union’s four bargaining delegations. Samsung Electronics recently recruited Lee Jung-sik, former secretary of the Labor-Management Development Foundation, as a member of the advisory committee.
Official Samsung Electronics : As long as we have sincerely been negotiating, the situation does not change. I will continue to work with a sincere attitude in negotiations with the union.
