The government even issued an executive order for the first time to secure hospital beds. They have been public hospitals in the past, but now large private hospitals now require that 1% of all beds be dedicated to critical patients with corona.
Reporter Kim Hyung-rae is at the National Medical Center. Reporter Kim First, let’s check the state of the bed today (19).

Yes, the joint response control room at the National Medical Center, where I’m listed, is dedicated to securing beds even on weekend nights.
As of yesterday, there are 13 beds in the metropolitan area where critical patients can be admitted immediately.
Although it increased three times compared to the previous day, it is still insufficient considering the increase in the number of patients with severe gastric disorders during the day yesterday.
Furthermore, there are only three beds left for patients in the pre-severe stage.

Meanwhile, hospital beds were built around public hospitals like the National Medical Center, but the situation has changed.
<기자>
Yes, quarantine authorities yesterday issued an administrative order to convert at least 1% of all hospital beds to dedicated beds for critically ill patients with Corona 19 for 42 nursing homes across the country and other national university hospitals.
This is the first time since the Corona 19 outbreak in Korea that the authorities have even mobilized private hospital beds, meaning the situation has become urgent.
These hospitals must complete 60% of their quota by the 23rd and all transitions by the 26th, taking into account the amount of time patients travel to the hospital.
Authorities hope this measure will secure up to 300 beds dedicated to critically ill patients.

Reporter Kim, how are the reactions of the hospitals?
<기자>
Yes, I contacted major hospitals such as Seoul Asan Hospital and Samsung Seoul Hospital, and most of them were in a position to actively respond to government action as the current situation was dire.
However, since treatment for other critically ill patients such as cancer, heart and cerebrovascular disease may be interrupted, we are struggling with relocation measures.
The government plans to provide benefits such as delaying the evaluation of medical institutions for these hospitals or temporarily lifting regulation of the workforce.
