In July, the prosecution’s investigation confirmed that the fact that the late Mayor Park Won-soon was accused of sexual harassment was handed over to Mayor Park through an official of a women’s organization and a member of the National Assembly.
On the 30th, the Seoul Northern District Prosecutor’s Office announced the results of the investigation into the alleged leak of the accused by Mayor Park.
According to the prosecution, on July 7, lawyer Kim Jae-ryun, who represents victims of sexual harassment, contacted Mr. A, an official of a women’s organization he had met, and informed him that he was going to sue Mayor Park as ‘Me too’.
Consequently, on the same day, Mr. A gave the same information to Mr. B, co-representative of another women’s organization, and Mr. B shared the information with C, co-representative of the same group on July 8. , the next day.
Mr. C called Democratic Party member Nam In-soon to inform him of the information, and member Nam immediately called Im Soon-young, then Seoul’s gender specialist, and asked if there was anything unfavorable about the mayor. Park.
The prosecution said that I contacted Mr. A immediately after speaking with Congressman Nam, but he was unable to confirm details of the related matters, and later, in a call with Mr. C, Mr. Kim and the women’s organization got in touch. .
In response, special reporter Lim asked, “There seems to be a nasty or bad story about the mayor, but do you know anything about the mayor,” while Mayor Park replied, “There is no such thing.”
Special reporter Lim explained the situation even when he met with Mayor Park at the diplomatic office that same night, and Mayor Park said: “There is a text message with the victim before April.
On the morning of the next day, Mayor Park said, “It appears the victim is doing something with the women’s organization. I will quit the mayor’s job and take care of it.” He left the diplomatic mission on the same day and lost contact, but was found dead near Sukjeongmun on Mount Bukak at 01:00 on the 10th.
However, the prosecution said it appears that both special reporters Lim and Mayor Park did not know until the fact that the victim filed a complaint with the Seoul Police Agency and was investigated on the day of the presentation.
In the first place, the case was based on accusations from the Blue House, the prosecution and police that leaked the accused (secret leak for public service, etc.). However, as a result of analyzing the content of the related party’s phone call, the prosecution said that it could not be considered that they had leaked information related to the facts of the complaint abroad, and all of them remained without being processed.
The prosecution ruled that charges such as leaking public affairs secrets could not be applied to notifying women’s organizations that they were sued.
Representative Nam served as a permanent representative in the past in an organization represented by Mr. C, and Special Reporter Lim was appointed a Gender Specialist in Seoul in January last year after serving as an assistant in Nam’s office.
The prosecution verified the details of the call on 26 mobile phones of 23 people, including Mayor Park, and investigated 50 people, including the defendants, Seoul city officials and journalists, and the two mobile phones used by Mayor Park. and special assistant Lim. Digital forensics confirmed content
The prosecution decided to open the Deliberation Committee for the Disclosure of Criminal Cases the day before to publicize the results of the investigation, considering that all the accused were not prosecuted, and those who were accused of being leaked were not punished.
