To prevent the spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI), temporary suspension orders were issued nationwide on Saturdays and Sundays.
The Central Headquarters for Control of Avian Influenza Accidents announced that it ordered the temporary suspension of the movement throughout the country for 48 hours from 0 am on the 12th, judging that it is a serious situation, with 10 cases of AI highly pathogenic occurring in poultry farms in 5 cities and provinces so far.
Applicable targets are livestock, workers, and vehicles in poultry farms and livestock facilities (feed mills, slaughterhouses, etc.) across the country.
The redundant copy organizes a central inspection team to verify the execution of the temporary suspension order on site and to take strict action when violations are confirmed.
During the suspension period, poultry farms, livestock facilities, livestock vehicles, and areas at risk of contamination are largely disinfected.
Poultry farms must park their own vehicles on the farm and stop their operation, and then apply quicklime, clean and disinfect the farm yard and interior of the barn, and disinfect equipment, clothing, and products on the farm.
The livestock facility had to wash and disinfect the vehicle and the entire workplace after moving the livestock vehicle to the job site. In particular, livestock vehicles must be equipped with a satellite positioning system (GPS) terminal and fully maintain normal operating conditions.
Along with this, vehicles and equipment that can be used are mobilized to disinfect the vicinity of farms, village roads and migratory bird arrival sites, and conduct orientation and inspections.
To block horizontal spread between farms, the heavy water supply plan is to prepare reinforced quarantine measures on site during the suspension period.
In order to minimize the risk of transmission of the virus by livestock vehicles, the movement of food and manure vehicles between cities and provinces is prohibited, and livestock vehicles that exclude food, manure, eggs, husk, rice and cattle enter the farm.
Poultry farms must maintain a disinfection certificate for livestock vehicles visiting the farm.
“It is a serious situation where highly pathogenic avian influenza is at the crossroads of spreading across the country,” said Kim Hyun-soo, head of the heavy water division.
