Moisturizing cream in orthopedic clinic? … Real life insurance against leaks

Indemnity Insurance Hospitals with 38 million subscribers are publicly abusing this indemnity insurance.

There are leaks in insurance rates, such as the sale of moisturizers in orthopedic clinics or the recommendation of cataract surgery for intact eyes.

Eventually, the burden on the entire subscriber will inevitably increase.

Reporter Min-chan Kim first covered the situation.

An orthopedic clinic in Gyeonggi-do.

However, I went there because it was surprisingly popular for treating skin conditions.

When the doctor tells you that your skin is itchy, you immediately ask if you want to buy real life insurance.

[00정형외과 의사]
“Do you have any actual (insurance) expenses? If so, it would be better to give him a good lotion, so actual expenses generally apply.

So, I recommend a moisturizer worth 38,000 won.

“It doesn’t matter if you apply it multiple times. These days when it’s dry … I use it for reference.”

The treatment lasted only 3 minutes.

The nurse, who has prepared the documentation for the insurance company in advance, will inform you the amount of the insurance reimbursement.

[00정형외과 간호사]
“(For cream) will be deducted (returned) from 38,000 won to several thousand won.”

The money paid to the hospital was 8,800 won.

Calculating the money she recovers from real life insurance, she bought two moisturizers for around 10,000 won.

It is already famous online to buy moisturizer with real life insurance, but there are even people who resell the purchased cream.

“Since it doesn’t smell strong, a lot of people buy it. They buy it to use on children …”

The skin clinic in Gangnam, Seoul, also asks me if there is insurance against loss as soon as I sit down.

The cost of bleaching and bleaching skin care is 660,000 won every 10 times.

However, the counselor will tell you how, if you have real life insurance, it is half the price.

[피부 클리닉 상담사]
“When did you take the actual expenses? Did you pay 5,000 won or 10,000 won?”

If you receive a manual treatment worth 1.9 million won, you will be almost fully reimbursed with the actual loss insurance, so if you stop the manual treatment, you will be paid half the price of the skin care .

[피부 클리닉 상담사]
“If you do, you pay 190 (10,000 won), get a refund, and pay an additional 330,000 won, thus saving the amount a lot.”

In postpartum care centers, there are ophthalmologists who advertise to mothers to control their body shape with manual treatment, ask for insurance premiums and recommend cataract surgery for healthy eyes.

[김봉진/손해보험협회 보상제도팀장]
“In the case of manual treatment, 1,000 won somewhere, 300,000 won somewhere … The price deviation is also very serious, and this is a situation that is out of control due to excessive treatment.”

Excessive use of the hospital by some policyholders is also a problem.

As of 2018, the top 10% of subscribers with the most frequent hospital use took more than half (56.8%) of their total insurance coverage, increasing each year.

As a result, insurance payments by insurance companies have more than doubled in the last five years and 11 insurance companies have stopped selling real life insurance.

Finally, the increase in costs for insurance companies was passed on to all subscribers, resulting in an annual increase in premiums close to 10%.
