As the military physical examination standard has been relaxed and the number of people enrolled in active duty soldiers is expanding, in the future, even if there are many tattoos on the body, they will have to serve active duty.
The Ministry of National Defense announced on Day 1 that it announced on Day 1 that it had abolished the Level 4 standards for tattoos and announced a legislative amendment to the “ Rules of Evidence for Military Service Decisions, Physical Examinations, etc. ”, which contains the contents that require that the sentence of active service be carried out (grades 1 to 3).
So far, if there are a lot of tattoos or if others find it unpleasant because of the exposed area, then a grade 4 complementary service has been received. For this reason, tattoos were also used as a way to avoid active duty.
The Ministry of Defense explained that “negative perception, such as social rejection of tattoos, decreased and it was determined that normal military service was possible.”
In addition, criteria for determining active duty, such as body mass index (BMI), flat feet (flat feet), and refractive errors (farsightedness, myopia) have been lowered to the pre-2014 level, and the number of enrolled active duty soldiers.
The BMI obtained by dividing weight (kg) by the square of height (㎡) is currently ‘less than 17, more than 33’, but will change to ‘less than 16, more than 35’ in the future. Previously, for a height of 175 cm, the overweight standard was 102 kg and the underweight standard was 52 kg, but according to the new standard, they are 108 kg and 48 kg respectively.
However, the criteria for determining mental health are stronger than before. This is a measure to reduce the command load of field units by blocking the recruitment of unfit for service personnel as active and social service personnel in advance, and to prevent incidents and accidents of social service personnel.
Consequently, in the past, it was possible to enroll in active duty if “ there are few social and occupational dysfunctions even if there are current symptoms, ” but in the future, it will be revised to allow enrollment in active duty only if “ there are no current symptoms or only some minor symptoms. ” Furthermore, when adjusting the standards for level 4 (complementary service) of 12 items in the Department of Mental Health Medicine, some mental patients with difficulties in social service were excluded from the complementary service.
In addition, the Ministry of Defense explained that a new provision was created to determine the victims of disinfectant humidifiers.
