On the afternoon of the 21st, in front of the Daechi 2-dong Community Service Center, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Two tents with white roofs were built. Five employees of the health center also appeared wearing masks and quarantine uniforms.
The community center here has been turned into a “temporary screening clinic.” It is the aftermath of a new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) confirmed by an instructor in the Daechi-dong entrance exam the day before.
As of this day, Gangnam-gu began preventive testing for Corona 19 on 20,000 people involved, including instructors at academies in the building. This is a measure to ease the anxiety of test takers with only 44 days left for the college academic aptitude test (SAT).
There were not many instructors who visited the clinic on the first day of the preventive exam. One or two people visited this place every 1-3 minutes.
As this is a screening clinic for instructors and academy officials, the staff first asked, “You are a school official” to those who visited the clinic. The instructors followed the procedure in the order of ‘hand disinfection → reception → sample collection’ according to staff instructions. The whole process finished in less than 5 minutes.
Most of the instructors I met on the site seemed to be aware of Daechi-dong’s dazzling atmosphere. Mr. A, an academy instructor in his 40s, said, “I found this place because I was an academy instructor.” Another group from the academy who visited this place also avoided the seat saying, “I can’t tell you anything.”
The S Academy in Daechi-dong, where the speaker for the confirmation confirmation, was giving a lecture, was bleak. At the entrance, there was a phrase that said: ‘We will close the door of the building for the moment due to the quarantine.’ On the floor, there was also a leaflet with “50,000 won for quarantine disinfection,” which the company is believed to have left after the quarantine.
The academy is divided into several buildings for each subject, and the professor to confirm the diagnosis gave lectures in the places where the students attend for special purposes. High schools that were caught in an emergency also pushed back the midterm exam schedule. Lectures are still being held in other buildings of this academy.
However, the students don’t seem to care much. “I was a bit surprised at first, but I’m not worried,” said Mogun Lee, a high school freshman, and said, “I study in a different location from the building where the confirmation instructor teaches, and the academy is really good quarantined. ”
Passing students also responded by saying, “I’m not worried about going to another academy.”
According to the Seoul and Gangnam-gu Metropolitan Bureau of Education, the 60 people who came into contact with the confirmatory instructor were judged negative for Corona 19. The instructor was confirmed on the 19th after contacting a confirmed person in another region. Although he showed suspicious symptoms of Corona 19 on the 13th, he attended the academy every day until the 17th.
