Researchers at the University of Connecticut compared the effects of spraying povidone iodine at concentrations of 0.5%, 1.25%, and 2.5% on a plate grown with Corona 19 virus and spraying alcohol at a concentration of 70%. As a result, it was found that the inhibitory effect of the coronavirus exposed for 15 seconds in the case of the injection at 0.5% with the lowest concentration was greater than that of the case of exposure to alcohol during the same time period.

Overdose of drugs that include povidone iodine solutions on the market is prohibited. Patients with hypersensitivity, hypothyroidism and people with a history of kidney failure should use more carefully.

Experts also recommend that the red drug not be diluted in the mouth or applied to the nose to treat COVID-19. Only products marketed for the throat should be used for the respiratory system.
