“You should not eat it or apply it directly to your nose”
On the 7th, Professor Man-Sung Park from the Research Institute of Viral Diseases of the Korea University School of Medicine announced the results of the antiviral effect evaluation by applying a drug containing 0.45% povidone iodine in a test tube cultured with Corona virus 19. The research results were published in the September issue of the ‘Journal of Bacteriology and Virology’.
The research team revealed that the povidone iodine component reduced Corona 19 virus by 99.99% and showed excellent virus-killing effect.
In previous studies, povidone iodine has also been shown to be effective in fighting the influenza virus and the acute respiratory syndrome virus (SARS).
In recent years, many countries around the world have repeatedly announced research results that povidone iodine has the effect of killing the Corona 19 virus.
Researchers at Samantha Frank, Ph.D. in medicine from the University of Connecticut, also announced that in a study published on September 17, povidone-iodine spray sprayed into the nose rapidly inhibited the activity of the corona virus 19.
Researchers at the University of Connecticut compared the effects of spraying povidone iodine at concentrations of 0.5%, 1.25%, and 2.5% on a plate grown with Corona 19 virus and spraying alcohol at a concentration of 70%. As a result, it was found that the inhibitory effect of the coronavirus exposed for 15 seconds in the case of the injection at 0.5% with the lowest concentration was greater than that of the case of exposure to alcohol during the same time period.
However, not only the Korea University research, but also the University of Connecticut, etc. These are the results of test tube experiments, so there are no published research results on the effects on the human body.
Overdose of drugs that include povidone iodine solutions on the market is prohibited. Patients with hypersensitivity, hypothyroidism and people with a history of kidney failure should use more carefully.
Experts also recommend that the red drug not be diluted in the mouth or applied to the nose to treat COVID-19. Only products marketed for the throat should be used for the respiratory system.
