A senior official at the International Olympic Committee (IOC) said the Tokyo Olympics, which were postponed for a year due to the coronavirus infection pandemic (a global pandemic), “will be held independently of the crown.”

“The Tokyo Olympics will be held with or without a crown,” said John Kotz, vice president of the IOC, Australia, who is chairman of the Tokyo Olympics coordinating committee. The Tokyo Olympics, which were originally scheduled to begin on July 24 this year, have been postponed from July 23 to August 8 next year due to the corona pandemic.

The coordinating committee oversees the preparation process for the site of the Olympic Games. This is the reason why the interpretation is that it shows the atmosphere within the IOC over Vice President Kotz’s comments.

In an AFP interview, Vice President Kotsu mentioned the Great Tohoku Earthquake in 2011 and said: “The Tokyo Olympics should be a contest of reconstruction and revival free of nightmares, and a contest that Corona conquered.” .

Vice President Kotz cited the fact that all the stadiums nearing completion had been built prior to the Crown’s expansion, and that the facilities for the athletes’ villages and the transportation arrangements were excellent. IOC President Thomas Bach praised the Tokyo Olympics as the best preparation process in history.

Japan is also keen to host the Olympics. Toshiro Muto, secretary general of the Tokyo Olympic Games Organizing Committee, said in an interview with the BBC in July: “I will do my best to host the Olympic Games next year.” Although admission to the hearing may be restricted, he also expressed a position that he would like to avoid “no hearing.” Instead, they mentioned ways to simplify the opening and closing ceremonies and reduce the number of athletes and delegations from each country. Regarding the corona vaccine, she said, “If there is, it is good, but it is not a required condition.”

It is reported that the IOC and the Tokyo Olympic Games Organizing Committee recently met to discuss issues related to the organization of the Olympic Games. How the border protection measures will affect the entry of players to Japan, how the spectators will be and how to keep the stadium safe.

However, it is unclear whether the Olympics will go ahead as scheduled. Entry to Japan is restricted and it is unclear when the corona vaccine will be developed. Public opinion in Japan is also unfavorable. According to Kyodo News, more than half of the 3,273 Japanese companies, 53.1%, said they should cancel or postpone the Tokyo Olympics next year.

Japan and the IOC are in the position that there is no Olympic recreation. If it doesn’t open next year, it will likely be canceled. In this regard, Yoshiro Mori, the organizer of the Tokyo Olympics, said in April: “If it is not held in 2021, the Tokyo Olympics will inevitably be canceled.”

So far, only five times the Olympics have not been held. In 1916, the Summer Olympics were not held due to the influence of the First World War, and in 1940 and 1944, the Winter and Summer Olympics were canceled four times due to the influence of the Second World War.
