On the 27th (local time), local media such as Thailand’s Bangkok Post reported that the shooting occurred on the street in front of the house where the reception was held in Tampan Nara, Nikon Si Thammarat, southern Thailand.
Arun Potabon, 31, and his wife, Darawan Bunmichai, 24, who attended the reception at 11 pm on the 26th, reportedly met Darawan’s ex-boyfriend here. The ex-boyfriend, burned out by jealousy, had a fierce argument with Arun, and it almost escalated through a fist fight.
When the atmosphere turned harsh, the groom, the bride, and the host sent them out of the house, and then shots rang out along the way. According to local reports, guests who followed to watch the fight were surprised by gunfire and fled.
Since then, Arun and Darawan have been found dead with gunshot wounds at various locations. Two of the other three guests were also seriously injured and taken to hospital, but eventually died.
According to police investigations, 9mm, 38 caliber and 22 caliber cartridges were found at the scene of the shooting. Police said they were identifying the attacker without revealing who Darawan’s ex-boyfriend was.
Meanwhile, Thailand has allowed the possession of firearms since 1947. If there is no criminal record and certain income, citizens and permanent residents of adults over the age of 20 can obtain a gun license.
