As a result of a negative test on a quail farm in Chungbuk, where highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) infection was suspected, it was confirmed as highly pathogenic AI. This is the fifth case of highly pathogenic AI on domestic farms this year. Along with this, a highly pathogenic AI suspicion was found at the quail farm in Yeoju, Gyeonggi province, and a detailed investigation was launched.

The Avian Influenza Accident Control Headquarters announced on the 8th that highly pathogenic avian influenza (type H5N8) was confirmed as a result of a detailed examination of the negative quail farm in North Chungcheong Province reported on the 7th. As soon as a suspicion report is received on the farm and the result of a simple test is positive, quarantine measures such as access control and movement restrictions to farms and epidemiological facilities are implemented. From 11:00 p.m. on the 7th to 11:00 p.m. on the 9th, temporary suspension of movement orders are also issued for poultry farms, livestock facilities, livestock vehicles and poultry farms owned by the corporation in the Chungbuk region.

A Jungsubon official said: “The farmer is determined to protect my livestock, so please completely sterilize all vehicles, people, equipment and goods that come into the farm.”

Meanwhile, Jungsubon announced on the 8th that a highly pathogenic AI doctor had been discovered on a quail farm (raising 110,000 animals) in Yeoju, Gyeonggi-do. This farm is the fourth case in which the farm confirmed suspicious symptoms during the telephone inspection process for a poultry farm within a 10 km radius of a laying hen farm in Yeoju, Gyeonggi-do, where highly pathogenic AI occurred. The number of quail mortality on the farm increased and suspicious symptoms were confirmed as they did not eat food, and a simple test result was confirmed positive. If the simple test is positive, most tests are also positive.
