Itaewon, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, where a large crowd gathered around Halloween Day (October 31) every year is busy these days. It is not because of the preparations to receive the guests of ‘Daemok’, but because of the special quarantine work for the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19).
On the 29th, a special quarantine team made up of officials from the Yongsan-gu office visited Itaewon restaurants, clubs and other entertainment bars and sprayed disinfectant on the streets and doors. Itaewon, where clubs and pubs are concentrated, has been packed all night with young people wearing different costumes each year on Halloween.
On this day, in the alleys of Itaewon, Jack-o-Lantern (pumpkin decorations) and dolls dressed as Dracula peculiar to Halloween were sitting there. However, unlike the energetic and stimulating appearance of the previous year, it was “slow.” As the club’s spread in Itaewon last May spread uncontrollably across the country, the club that issued a ‘temporary closure’ notice was notable, perhaps due to the ‘sizzling’ experience in which there were 300 confirmed cases. .
Quarantine authorities plan to heavily inspect club cluster areas such as Itaewon, Gangnam Station and the entrance to Hongik University for three days starting on the 30th. The USFK, who is considered the main customer of the Halloween Day Festival , also participated in the prevention of Corona 19. The USFK command announced that it would prohibit former US 8th Army soldiers and their civilians from entering Itaewon from 3pm on Halloween 31st until 9am am the next day.
