Yesterday (1st) afternoon, near the Western-Yang interchange on the Seoul-Yangyang Expressway.

On the road turned into a snow field, vehicles turn on their hazard lights and stop, and meanwhile, people walk through the snow.

Although a group of vehicles buried in the snow got together, they just kept turning and the snowplow was late, but it is not enough to solve the situation on the road.

In the sections where snow removal has not been carried out, vehicles that have been completely turned off are also noticeable.

Since yesterday, more than 55 cm of snow has accumulated in Misiryeong and more than 29 cm in Bukgangneung.

Due to late snow removal work, two lanes on the Seoul-Yangyang Expressway to Seoul were opened starting at 10:00 pm, but congestion continues in the 6 km section, and only one lane on the Donghae Expressway is communicates partially.

Korea Expressway Corporation explained that snow removal was not done because a lot of snow fell in a short period of time and snow removal vehicles were trapped between ordinary vehicles.

Snow clouds are still forming, so 10 to 40 cm more snow is expected in Yeongdong, Gangwon-do, until this afternoon.

In the Yeongseo area, up to 15 cm in the morning, 3 to 8 cm of snow was forecast in North Gyeonggi, East Gyeonggi and North Gyeongbuk.

The Meteorological Administration said that this snow is very “wet” because it absorbs moisture from the East Sea.
