AI kills a farm in Jeongeup, Jeollabuk-do, Korea
“Now I don’t know what to eat”
“I don’t know what kind of lightning, even corona and highly pathogenic AI.”
On the 29th, farmers gathered at the entrance to the meat duck breeding farm in Soseong-myeon, Jeongeup-si, Jeollabuk-do, where highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) occurred. Residents who saw the government’s killer treatment work on the farm could not hide their feelings of collapse when the news of the sudden outbreak of AI in the upper hospital was in a painful situation due to the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) .
On day 27, the farm showed H5 antigen in a pre-shipment test on day 27 and, as a result of close examination, it was confirmed as highly pathogenic H5N8 AI. More than 19,000 ducks raised on this farm were slaughtered the day before as a precaution.
As of this morning, pre-emptive slaughter was in full swing on poultry farms adjacent to AI-prone farms. Quarantine authorities used bulldozers to kill 390,000 ducks and chickens raised on poultry farms within a 3 km radius. Officials and workers who were in quarantine struggled to disinfect the area around the farm or to remove slaughter residues, such as food left around the farm. The authorities established a 10 km radius as a quarantine zone and placed restrictions on the movement of 68 poultry farm households for 30 days, and all poultry farms and workers in Jeongeup City were prevented from moving and entering for 7 days.
Villagers who saw this at the farm entrance said: “This farm is a place that has been featured in the media many times due to the full quarantine and hygienic cattle rearing, but I can’t believe the AI came out “. “It hurts a lot,” he said. A merchant for the mayor of Samgoeul in Jeongeup also confessed, “I was trapped by the crown, but now I have humans and animals due to AI,” and said, “People in the market are not sure what to eat.”
There have been recently confirmed cases of highly pathogenic AI in wild birds, but the occurrence in poultry farms was revealed after two years and eight months after March 2018, thus the highest level of quarantine measures were taken. Agriculture, Forestry, Livestock and Food Minister Kim Hyun-soo, head of AI Accident Control Headquarters, held an online briefing on the day and said: “Since highly pathogenic AI has been confirmed on farms poultry farming and highly pathogenic AI antigens are still detected in wild birds, it is considered to be a very dangerous situation across the country, and quarantine measures have been greatly strengthened. “Do it.” On the 21st of last month, the government raised the crisis level from ‘Caution’ to ‘Severe’ as a confirmed case appeared in poultry farms 36 days after the first detection of highly pathogenic AI in wild birds in Bonggangcheon, Cheonan, Gyeonggi, where the birds arrived migratory.
Heavy water enforced quarantine measures for migratory birds and rivers across the country as highly pathogenic avian influenza was confirmed in poultry farms and 8 highly pathogenic avian influenza antigens were also detected in wild birds in Jeju, Gangwon Province, Gyeonggi and Jeju.
In particular, disinfection work is being carried out by mobilizing all disinfection personnel and equipment for migratory birds in Jeonbuk, roads near poultry farms, small reservoirs, rivers, and farm access roads. Local governments adjacent to Jeongeup, such as Jeollanam-do and Gochang-gun, Jeollabuk-do, also set up checkpoints on farm access roads and operated joint control groups, and carried out extensive quarantine work on poultry farms, migratory bird sites and small rivers. A Jeonbuk-do official said: “We will mobilize all administrative power to prevent further spread of AI.”
