A ‘hydrogen charging station’ has been installed in Ulsan, where hydrogen can be supplied through a pipeline connected to the city center for the first time in Korea.
On the 30th, the city of Ulsan held a ceremony for the completion of the ‘Joint Hydrogen Charging Station’ in the area around 101, Shinhwa-ro, Nam-gu. Altogether, the hydrogen charging station began construction in February 2019 and a total project cost of 3 billion won was invested.
This charging station can be fueled with hydrogen continuously through pipelines, so it can charge 55kg per hour and 130 hydrogen electric vehicles per day.
This method of supplying hydrogen directly to a charging station through a pipeline connected to the city center ranks first in Korea and third in the world after Japan and the United States.
In particular, it is possible to move a large amount of water compared to the conventional method that has supplied hydrogen with a tubular trailer, which greatly increases the capacity of the charging station and reduces transportation costs.
The city plans to expand the hydrogen gas pipeline to the Onsan National Industrial Complex (south) -Taehwagang Station-Gyeongju border (north), followed by construction in the east and west regions and throughout the city.
The city has secured 8 hydrogen charging stations from 2009 to the present, including the completion of the hydrogen charging stations at the Deokha Public Garage that day, and aims to complete 4 additional charging stations by 2021.
Ulsan Mayor Song Chul-ho said: “We will expand the construction of hydrogen refueling stations so that they can be accessed in 10 minutes through Ulsan, and we will apply a precision monitoring security management system.” .
