There are still many questions about whether the vaccine is given on time or if it is safe.

Even if the government is a product of a foreign pharmaceutical company, the amount produced in Korea must be supplied to Korea first, and the government will take responsibility if side effects occur after vaccination.

That is, we will fully verify safety and begin vaccination.

Reporter Park Seon-ha reports.

The AstraZeneca vaccine is the only vaccine that the government has announced and has even signed a pre-purchase contract.

But there was a problem at AstraZeneca’s UK production facilities.

As the amount of vaccination in the UK is known to be imported from the Netherlands and Germany as well, there are concerns that the domestic supply, which is scheduled for early next year, will be delayed.

In response, the government said that the quantity produced in domestic factories will be supplied to Korea first.

The AstraZeneca vaccine is already being produced at SK Bioscience’s vaccine factory in Andong, Gyeongbuk.

“(From the AstraZeneca side), there will be no big problems with the arrival of super animals because it is a plan to prioritize the current amount produced in Korea …”

It is advantageous to be able to rapidly introduce a domestically produced vaccine, considering that the duration of the vaccine’s efficacy is only known for at least 3 months, and is still uncertain and may need to be administered more frequently.

The government is in a position where there is no need to worry about the efficacy and safety of the vaccine.

Regarding the AstraZeneca vaccine, an article was published in the international medical journal ‘Lancet’ in which external researchers verified that the safety and efficacy of the clinical phase 3 results were demonstrated.

Along with this, the government decided to provide the vaccine for free so that more people could receive it.

However, general citizens who are not subject to mandatory vaccination are debating whether to provide free or partial support for vaccination.

In the event of side effects or adverse reactions that you may not be aware of, the government has decided to take damage and compensate it like the flu shot.

Furthermore, the government emphasized that there will be no unsafe vaccines available to the public through multiple verification steps prior to vaccination.
