Ministry of Education, Crown Prevention Measures

Candidates who are diagnosed with a new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) prior to the College Ability Test (SAT) on December 3 can be admitted to a designated hospital or life treatment center for each city and province. to perform the test.

The Ministry of Education reported on the ‘Measures to facilitate the implementation of the SAT SAT 2021’ in the meeting of the State Council held on the 3rd. Every year, one month before the exam, the Ministry of Education establishes measures such as traffic control and noise blocking on the day of the exam. This year’s SAT will be held in a special situation called Corona 19, and more than anything, content focused on infection prevention has been added.

First, one or two hospitals or life treatment centers are designated for each city and province for candidates who have been diagnosed with Corona 19. These facilities will be operational from the 12th, three weeks before the SAT. Candidates confirmed after this day are hospitalized here and prepare for the exam for the rest of the day. If you cannot be discharged from the hospital on the day of the SAT, the test will be done as you are in the hospital. If they are discharged before the SAT, they will be assigned to a general testing center or a separate testing site based on the opinion of the medical staff. It usually takes 10-15 days from confirmation to discharge and 20 days at most.

Although not confirmed, 113 separate test sites are prepared for candidates who are subject to self-isolation. There are about two for each test district. In principle, candidates for self-isolation must move their own vehicle to and from the test site, but ambulance assistance is also possible if required. The Ministry of Education plans to discuss with the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to inform parents and students about caution when moving to the test site. If the subject becomes autonomous even one day before the test, the test site will be changed from a general test site to a separate test site. Starting on the 26th, one week before the SAT, all high schools and test centers in the country will convert to remote classes. This is to minimize the risk of Corona 19 spread from schools and test takers’ confirmation, and to prevent contamination of the test site. The Education Ministry said: “By the time an examinee is confirmed or notified about their self-isolation, a system has been established for quarantine authorities, local governments and related organizations, such as the Ministry of Education, can share information. ” And follow-up measures, such as guidance for test takers. ”The Ministry of Education will announce more specific methods this week as soon as possible.

Vice Premier Yu Eun-hye and the Minister of Education held a meeting with quarantine experts on this day to discuss the SAT quarantine. Experts are known to have emphasized the need to prepare test sites for students with underlying conditions such as asthma. Cho Hoon-hee, head of the university admissions policy section of the Ministry of Education, said: “For asthma patients who have difficulty wearing a mask for an extended period, we will arrange a separate examination room to remove mask and perform the test, “he said.
