Samsung Electronics introduced a new ‘Galaxy S20 Fan Edition (FE)’ smartphone with higher cost effectiveness.
On the 23rd, Samsung Electronics held ‘Samsung Galaxy Unpack (public event) for all fans’ and introduced the Galaxy S20 FE. This model is a cost effective version with a lower price and at the same time it offers high performance when using the ‘Galaxy S20’ parts released in the first half. The price ranges from 800,000 to 900,000 won. It has been three years since Samsung Electronics launched the ‘Galaxy Note FE’ in 2017.
The Galaxy S20 FE contains key features that consumers prefer. It has a 6.5-inch ‘Super AMOLED Infinity-O Display’ with holes in the camera only and a 120Hz refresh rate that smoothly changes the screen. This is one of the top 3 preferences in a survey conducted by Samsung Electronics of global consumers from July to August.
On the back, three cameras were placed: an ultra-wide camera (12 million pixels), a wide-angle camera (12 million pixels), and a telephoto camera (8 million pixels). Supports 30x spatial zoom. A 32 megapixel camera was installed on the front. The application processor (AP) used Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865. Supports fifth generation (5G) mobile communications.
There is also a performance that was dropped when the price dropped. Resolution dropped from QHD to FHD. The number of pixels of the telephoto camera has also decreased from 64 million pixels to 8 million pixels. The backing material has been changed from glass to plastic. Product weight is 193g, somewhat heavier.
The Galaxy S20 FE has expanded consumer options with various colors. It will be released in six colors: Cloud Red, Orange, Lavender, Mint, Navy and White. The global release date is the 2nd of next month. In Korea, it will officially launch in the middle of next month.
It should be noted if the Galaxy S20 FE can become a counterhorse for the ‘iPhone 12’ series that Apple will unveil next month. The Galaxy S20 FE is expected to compete with the cheaper iPhone 12 model with a profitable weapon.
