The first full album released by the group BLACKPINK after 4 years of debut was released on the 2nd.
Black Pink released the music video for the first full album ‘THE ALBUM’ and the title track ‘Loveick Girls’ to the world.
‘The Album’ contained a total of 8 songs from various genres including hip-hop, pop, dance and Rhythm and Blues (R&B).
In particular, the main theme ‘Love Style Girls’ stands out for the coexistence of a lyrical melody and EDM (Electronic Dance Music) elements. The retro dance sound and the members’ powerful voices continue to the country-style guitar melody, uplifting the atmosphere.
Not only YG producer Teddy, but also members Jisoo and Jenny participated in the lyrics and Jenny participated in the songwriting.
‘Even if you get hurt’ or ‘break’ in love, the lyrics about finding a new love embrace the pain and show the image of Black Pink, who has grown even more.
“Maybe it’s all for a moment / What are we looking for and wandering about?” She sings, “This fearless shaking returns when the pain heals” and “I’m happy with this pain.
The music video highlights the emotional performances of the four members. They reproduce the happy moments of love and hurts alternately, representing the wandering youth, and then they travel freely in the car together.
Jisoo told the global press conference that day, “It’s a constant pain and pain, but in the end it contains a hopeful message that comes from finding another love or dream.”
Jenny explained: “The message of the girls who have grown a little more than when they debuted.”
The featured song ‘Bet You Warner’ was hosted by Kady B, America’s top female rapper. The brilliant voices of the BLACKPINK members harmonize with Kadi B’s powerful rap.
It’s a delicious pop genre song with all the lyrics in English, featuring producer Tommy Brown and Mr Franks from the pre-release single ‘Ice Cream’.
Jenny said, “It’s an honor to be able to be with the artists that I enjoyed listening to as a trainee” and “I feel like we’re on the way we want to.
Also included were Black Pink’s unique song ‘Girl Crush’ and hip-hop ‘Pretty Savage’ showing identity, ‘Crazy Over You’ with an oriental sound, and the emotional R&B song ‘You Never No’. It also includes ‘How You Like That’ and ‘Ice Cream’, which were first released in June and August respectively.
The actual album of ‘The Album’ will be officially released on the 6th, four days after the launch of the sound source.
The number of pre-orders for the album surpassed one million, and gave the green light to the ‘Millions of Sellers’ record.
To date, it has registered 670,000 pre-orders in Korea and 340,000 in the US and Europe. In addition, 18,888 limited edition LPs have already been sold out.
If Black Pink sells more than 1 million copies with this album, it will set the record for the first first run (sales volume in the first week of release) with a single album by a K-pop girl group.
The music video ‘Love Style Girls’ was released on YouTube and recorded 10 million views in less than an hour and more than 20 million views in less than 4 hours.
Black Pink, which signed a contract with Interscope Records, a Universal Music label in 2018, has recently gained massive popularity and has established itself as a global girl group representing K-pop.
‘D’ Album ‘, which was released in the middle of this upward path, is a regular album that fans have been waiting for a long time.
YG explained, “It is a joint work prepared by YG and Universal Music Group for a long time.” Union
