Since yesterday, in the franchised coffee shops of the metropolitan area, customers cannot sit down to drink coffee.

The intention is, of course, to buy only drinks and not to sit in the store.

However, coffee shops or cafes operated by individuals are not covered, which is why customers flock here.

Reporter Lee Ji-soo covered it.

This afternoon, a franchise cafe in Yeouido, Seoul.

There are lines in front of the order counter, but the seats are empty.

This is because large franchise cafes can only be packaged or delivered.

It is a large bakery in a building directly attached to the franchise cafeteria.

Unlike neighboring stores, which have restricted use, the interior is packed with food and beverage customers.

The method of operation is the same as that of a cafeteria, but it is classified as a bakery, and seats are available until 9:00 p.m.

There is no obligation to wear a mask when eating, so many guests, including guests, remove or lower the mask.

The situation is similar for other nearby stores.

The cafeteria seats are empty, but in the bakery next door with a wall in the middle, customers sit at each table.

“We are following the guidelines for quarantine management, so separating and disinfecting them …”

Private cafes, not franchise ones, also visit constantly, avoiding restrictions.

At a local coffee shop, opening a laptop or sitting around a group talking is no different.

There is also a controversy over the method of restricting only big brand coffee shops, allowing restaurants to operate during the day, and controlling only after 9pm.

“Since small entrepreneurs do it, they are now involved in their livelihoods …”

The quarantine authorities said: “It is not possible to block all the activities of the people only with the force of the government”, and requested that the citizens themselves become subjects of voluntary quarantine even if there are some failures.
