Biden Complaints About Delay In Acquisition “Review Options, Including Legal Response”
United States President-elect Joe Biden is reportedly unable to receive national security reports due to President Donald Trump’s dissatisfaction with the election. Because of this, the Biden Transitional Committee is expected to have difficulty preparing major security policies for North Korea, Iran and the Middle East.
According to CNN, the United States National Intelligence Service (DNI) said in a statement on the 9th (local time) that “Biden-elect and his senior staff have not yet received a daily briefing.” The DNI oversees 16 intelligence agencies in the administration, including the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and the former US president-elect immediately received daily reports on national security there.
DNI said: “We follow the ‘President’s Acquisition Act’, which requires the GSA to confirm the election before supporting the inauguration of the presidency. I will not do it.”
The Washington Post reported that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) also does not plan to cooperate with Biden-elect. USAID said: “The GSA should make an official announcement of the election results.” However, the GSA has yet to confirm the election to Biden, saying the election results have not been confirmed, so it is highly likely that other government agencies will not cooperate with Biden. The GSA serves to provide the president-elect with the human and material resources necessary to take office. So far, the GSA has issued election tests the day after most elections, except for 2000, when the count dispute in Florida became a Supreme Court lawsuit. For this reason, it is noted that GSA Director Emily Murphy, who was appointed in 2017, continues to postpone the ‘winner’s statement’ while observing President Trump’s notice. In response, Biden’s side expressed dissatisfaction, saying that every department in the Trump administration, including the GSA, is intentionally delaying the takeover of the regime. A transition committee official told the US media that “there are several options on the table” and “we are also considering a legal response.”
