In Korea, more than 200 cases have been reported to health authorities in which an adverse reaction is suspected after vaccination against the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19).

According to the Corona 19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team (Promotion Team) on the 8th, the number of new reports of adverse reactions at 0 o’clock on the day was a total of 226 cases.

The number of death reports increased by three more than at the same time the day before, to a cumulative 11.

One in three deaths was confirmed to have died at 6pm on the 6th, but was later reflected in the statistics. Information on the other two will be released at this afternoon’s briefing.

To date, it has not been confirmed whether there is a link between death and vaccination.

The remaining 223 cases were reported to have minor symptoms such as headache, fever, and nausea.

As a result, since vaccination began on the 26th of last month, reports of suspected adverse reactions have cumulatively increased to 3,915.

At 0 o’clock on this day, it equates to 1.24% of the 315,865 cumulative inoculations in Korea.

When reporting adverse reactions by vaccine type, 3896 cases were related to the AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine and 19 cases were related to the Pfizer vaccine.

These results appear to be due to a much higher number of vaccines against AstraZeneca (31,583) than from Pfizer (5,282).

Regarding the cases of adverse reactions reported so far, by type, there are 33 cases of anaphylaxis, 5 cases of serious suspicion that include seizures or admission to the intensive care unit, and 11 cases of death.

Suspected cases of anaphylaxis are largely divided into anaphylaxis, anaphylactic shock, and anaphylactic reactions. Of the 33 cases reported so far, there were 32 cases of anaphylactic reaction and 1 case of anaphylactic shock.

Anaphylaxis-type reaction is a case in which symptoms such as dyspnea and hives appear within 2 hours after vaccination. The symptoms are similar to anaphylaxis, but it is not a big problem because it can be improved with symptomatic therapy.

Additionally, 3,866 cases, accounting for 98.7% of all adverse reaction reports, were mild cases such as headache, fever, nausea and vomiting, which are common after vaccination, the advocacy team said.

Quarantine authorities are currently investigating suspected cases of serious adverse reactions such as death.

Among the cases so far, the causation of vaccination has not been confirmed.

The advocacy team plans to explain in the afternoon briefing whether there is a causal relationship between reported death cases and vaccines based on the results of the meeting of the ‘Vaccination Harm Research Group’ in which medical experts participated and others.
