Police confirm supply plan for gas station seizure and search process
Petroleum Institute “Unique shape, like mixed waste oil”
100 damaged vehicles, including imported luxury cars
According to the Gongju Police Station on the 4th, in Daejeon on the 3rd, the operator of the gas station A (50) and the fake diesel supplier B (50) were arrested for violating the Commercial Oil and Alternative Fuels Law. Mr. A is accused of selling fake diesel fuel mixed with certain substances at gas stations in Gyeryong-myeon, Gongju-si and Sangwol-myeon, Nonsan-si.
The police launched an investigation after receiving complaints and reports that the vehicle (track) fed at two service stations had broken down in a pile. Only 100 vehicles reported damage in the last 3rd. In the damaged vehicle, phenomena such as the failure of the exhaust gas reduction system (DPF) and the engine shutdown occurred.
Drivers of the damaged vehicle reported that “after refueling (at Princess), the engine warning light came on while driving, and the exhaust gas reduction system was also broken, and the repair required a lot of money.” Some drivers were found to spend millions of won fixing cars. Some high-end imported cars cost a large amount of more than 10 million won in repair costs.
The damaged vehicles included 119 ambulances in Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province. On the 26th of last month, the Nonsan Fire Department’s Sangwol-myeon Area 119 University was transferring the patient to a teaching hospital in Daejeon, and the engine suddenly turned off and transferred the patient to another ambulance. The Nonsan gas station ended a brand contract with a national oil company in August, but it was revealed until recently that it had misled sales and drivers with the oil company sign.
As a result of the Korean Petroleum Institute’s component analysis, a large amount of inorganic silicon was detected in the fake diesel. This component is presumed to have a peculiar shape, not the typical fake diesels discovered so far. The Korea Petroleum Institute estimated that the diesel was mixed with used oil.
On the 3rd, the police discovered that Mr. B supplied fake diesel in the seizure and search process of two gas stations operated by Mr. A. The gas station was also caught in an offensive while selling fake diesel in 2017.
A police official said: “The gas station where the report was received is located on the side of the national highway with heavy vehicle traffic, and the victims occurred throughout the country.” “The number of victims can increase as cases are received through various routes.”
