The 1st Criminal Division of the Cheonan Section of the Daejeon District Court (Judge Dae-won Chae) sentenced A (41), charged with murder, violation of the Child Welfare Act (conventional child abuse) and special injuries, to 22 years in prison.

The judge said: “The defendant is hiding the crime from the initial stage of the investigation from the court, but by looking at the statements of the defendant and his children, we were able to fully recognize that the actions of the defendant could endanger the life of the victim.” . However, the court dismissed the location tracing order because the defendant’s crime was believed to have occurred due to a specific relationship with the victim.
Child victim trapped in suitcase for 13 hours
Mr. A was trapped in a suitcase for 3 hours because a victim lied in an apartment in Cheonan on June 1 at 7:25 pm, and when the boy went to the bathroom, he put it in a smaller bag.
Mr. A complained that the victim was trapped in a bag and said, “I can’t breathe”, but he continued to abuse her, such as jumping on the bag several times, and the crying and movement decreased, but he left him unattended .
The stepmother’s biological children, who were at the crime scene at the time, recommended “calling 911,” but the stepmother continued to neglect the victim.
Ultimately, the victim was confined in a bag for a total of 13 hours, found in cardiac arrest, and taken to hospital. And two days later, she died of a hypoxic brain injury at 6:30 p.m. on the 3rd.
