Accommodates 120 Confirmed Examinees and 3,800 Self-Help Examinees

The Education Ministry announced that it has secured 120 SAT beds for coronavirus infection (Corona 19) examinees on the day of the 2021 College Aptitude Test (SAT), which will be held on the 3rd of next month. For the self-isolation candidates, 754 testing rooms were established in 113 locations.
Education Minister Yu Eun-hye said this at a joint SAT exam meeting held at the government’s Sejong Government Complex on the 18th.
Minister Yoo explained, “Until now, separate testing spaces have been prepared across the country that can accommodate up to 120 confirmed students and 3,800 self-isolation students.”
To the superintendents of the metropolitan and provincial superintendents: “Please be aware of the situation where the number of quarantine candidates may increase more than expected in the Office of Education” and “Please be prepared to complete the site assignments test starting on the 26th, one week before the SAT “.
In addition, we request your understanding that the name of the academy will be released in case of additional confirmed cases after confirmed cases in academies and training centers during the special quarantine period for the SAT, which will be implemented from the 19th.
“Given the recent spread of infectious diseases, the number of examinees who received self-isolation notifications may increase,” Yu said. “The Ministry of Education and the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention share information and monitor the situation every day.”
The meeting was originally scheduled to take place under the chairmanship of the vice minister, but was elevated to the chairmanship of the minister in consideration of the increase in confirmed corona cases.
Minister Yoo said, “At the time of two weeks before the SAT, we have to consider all external stressors and fully prepare,” he said. “The entire educational community cannot release the tension.”
