The introduction of the e-commerce sector in RCEP is expected to open up new opportunities for Korean export companies. Furthermore, with the signing of this RCEP, Korea has signed an FTA with Japan for the first time. This is reporter Lee Ji-eun. The RCEP, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, which covers approximately one third of the world’s population, includes a chapter on electronic commerce. In other words, there will be a framework for electronic commerce common to the participating countries. First, the plan consists of laying the foundations for activating electronic commerce through the free flow of data across borders and the principle of prohibiting the location of computer equipment. This is particularly good news for Korean export companies that are struggling with Corona 19 and the protective trade stance. Furthermore, with the signing of the RCEP, Korea and Japan signed an FTA for the first time. As for the level of tariff elimination between the two countries, the number of items is the same at 83%, but the amount of imports is 78% for Japan and 76% for Korea. However, the government excluded the main sensitive items such as cars and machinery from the concession. With the RCEP and the Korea-Japan FTA, Korea has signed FTAs with the five main countries in the world economy. YTN Lee Ji-eun[[email protected]]it is.
