‘Special period for student safety’ until the end of the year after the exam
Candidates preparing for the college entrance examination this year should immediately visit a screening clinic and be screened if they develop suspicious symptoms of a new coronavirus (Corona 19) infection. Upon receiving the confirmation and quarantine notification as a result of the examination, you must inform the public health center that you are an applicant for the SAT and call the competent education office to report the necessary matters (quarantine and confirmation facts, examination status, contact information, etc.) Authorities provide support so that candidates can take the SAT without interruptions in designated hospitals or life treatment centers by region.
On the 15th, Vice Premier Yu Eun-hye and the Minister of Education announced the ‘2021 SAT Intensive Security Management Plan’ at the government building in Seoul. This plan includes measures to support testing for confirmed and quarantined examinees, to prevent risk of infection and quarantine of examinees in advance, and to create a secure testing environment.
First, to support the support of confirmed and quarantined candidates, 29 hospitals and life treatment centers will be operated in each city and province. The confirmed candidates were assigned to the base facilities from the 12th, three weeks ago. The Ministry of Education plans to determine the actual candidates by identifying the scheduled discharge date of the candidates assigned to the base facility on the 26th, one week before the SAT. In addition, when the number of confirmed candidates increases, it is decided to hire additional hospitals and life treatment centers, and to secure additional beds in the base facilities.
For the quarantine candidates, a total of 86 test districts function as separate test sites. To this end, as of the 13th, a total of 113 test centers and 754 test rooms were secured, the Ministry of Education explained. The establishment of the test site for the quarantined examinees will begin on the 26th. If the examinees found it difficult to move around with their own vehicle, the authorities decided to support the transfer.
The government will strengthen the quarantine for academies and some facilities with a high possibility of student entry by designating a ‘special AT quarantine period’ of two weeks from December 19 to 3, when the university entrance exam is taken. During the special quarantine period from December 19 to 3, authorities will begin intensive quarantine inspections for academies, training centers and study cafes. Likewise, from a week before the SAT, it is recommended to abstain from face-to-face teaching and the use of exams in academies and educational centers. When a contact of an infected person is confirmed in the academy, the name of the institute, the route of infection and the reason will be disclosed on the website of the Ministry of Education from December 19 to 2. Therefore, candidates and parents are advised to visit the home page of the Ministry of Education during the period and check if the corresponding academy is included in the path they used or contacted.
Depending on your circumstances, the test center school, etc., may convert classes on December 4, the day after the SAT, into remote classes, or designate and operate a closed day at its discretion. After the SAT, the school observes measures to minimize density and conducts school and remote classes according to the school’s own plan. The Ministry of Education designates December 3-31 as a “ special student safety period ” to provide safety management, such as prevention of infectious diseases, for various facilities that are expected to be used by many students ( singing practice centers, cinemas, game providers). It was decided to strengthen the patrol.
Vice Premier Yoo said, “As university-specific assessments continue after the SAT, I ask the public to continue to comply with quarantine regulations and participate in the ‘Safe SAT, Creating Safe College Admissions’ for test takers. “. / Reporter Min Byeong-kwon [email protected]
