As the number of new patients increased as a result of group infections that spread across the country, the number of new COVID-19 patients per day surpassed another 200.

As the infection spreads, quarantine authorities are considering strengthening social distancing by region.

At 0 o’clock today, the number of new confirmed corona19 cases is 208, an increase of 3 from yesterday, representing a three-digit number for eight days in a row and 200 for two consecutive days.

This is the level in early September, when infections occurred following the Gwanghwamun demonstration on 15 August.

In particular, considering the decrease in the number of tests of Corona 19 on holidays, the fact that there are more than 200 new confirmed cases is that the spread of Corona 19 is very serious.

Of the 208 new cases currently confirmed, 176 are national and 32 are from abroad.

Seoul added 81, Gyeonggi 41 and Incheon 2, with 124 added in the metro area alone.

In other regions, Gangwon was the largest with 19 people, and infections continue in various places in the country, including Chungbuk, Jeonnam, Gwangju and Gyeongnam.

Quarantine authorities are reviewing whether or not the distance level has risen by region.

In the case of Gangwon, the average number of confirmed patients per day per week was 12.6, which exceeded the average of 10 patients per day, the standard for the transition from step 1 to step 1.5.

The metropolitan area also averages 89.9 per day, approaching 100, which is the standard of 1.5 steps.

There is a lot of anxiety as group infections continue that link everyday spaces like workplaces and cafes, as well as vulnerable facilities like nursing homes.

Consequently, quarantine authorities are also considering measures to take high-intensity preventive measures, such as banning gatherings through the establishment of special quarantine periods and year-end and New Year holidays when the risk of infection increases due to increased movement and contact of the population.
