Choi, 74, mother-in-law of Attorney General Yoon Seok-yeol, who was subpoenaed by the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office on suspicion of illegal supply and demand in nursing hospitals, attended the indictment on the 12th and returned home after receiving an investigation for more than 10 hours.

Choi attended the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office around 9 a.m. that day, was investigated at 7:35 p.m., and read the records at 9 p.m. It is known that the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office, Criminal Section 6 (Prosecutor Director Park Soon-bae), intensively investigated whether Choi was involved in the establishment and operation of a nursing hospital.

Previously, in October 2012, Choi invested 200 million won to establish a medical foundation with his partner Gumo, and later established a nursing hospital in Paju, Gyeonggi-do.

Although this nursing hospital was not an established medical institution under the Medical Law, it was discovered after receiving a 2.2 billion won medical treatment benefit from the National Health Insurance Corporation for two years starting in May 2013. Three co-workers were convicted of violating medical law and fraud.

In this case, the prosecution’s investigation began when Choi Kang-wook, the head of the Open Democratic Party, indicted President Yun in April. Representative Choi claims that Yoon was involved in the investigation. However, in 2015, when Choi was acquitted of the charges, Yoon was demoted after investigating the case of the presidential intervention of the National Intelligence Service and was in the Daegu Superior Prosecutor’s Office.

In this case, Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae held the investigative command last month and ordered the Central District Prosecutor’s Office to strengthen the investigation team.

It is known that the prosecution, which has launched a new investigation, recently obtained a statement from Choi’s partner Gu to the effect that the ‘Disclaimer Memorandum’ was falsified. Also, earlier this month, Choi’s son-in-law, who was working as an administrative director at a nursing hospital, was called and investigated.
