Starting next year, the government has decided to reduce the property tax on houses with the official price of 600 million won or less held by an owner.

The cut rate is up to 50% and the government expects most individual homeowners to benefit.

Whether it is 900 million won or 600 million won, the standard for reducing property taxes was decided as the government’s plan was after a heated party debate.

The property tax rate for houses owned by a head of household and less than 600 million won at the official price will be lowered starting next year.

It decreases 0.05% p for each taxable bracket, and in this case it is reduced from 30,000 won to a maximum of 180,000 won depending on the taxable bracket.

The reduction rate is from 22.2% to 50%. Due to the nature of progressive tax excess, the higher the home price, the lower the reduction rate.

An apartment owner in Jongno-gu, Seoul, with a public announcement of 400 million won this year will pay almost 100,000 won less per year.

Apartment owners in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do, with a listing price of 165 million won, are exempt from an average of 50,000 won per year for three years.

However, the government decided to lower the tax rate for only three years, considering local finances.

Based on this year’s property tax levy, there are 1.03 million units, or 95% of the total, of a house per person with a listing price of 600 million won or less.

The government expected the majority of homeowners to be included, which would have a tax relief effect of about 1.4 trillion won over three years.
