[사회]Lee Myung-bak, hospital treatment before reincarceration … “Don’t worry, I’ll live comfortably in prison”

Former President Lee Myung-bak, who requested postponement of reincarceration after 17 years in prison was confirmed in the Supreme Court, visited Seoul National University Hospital for medical treatment.

The former president is said to have told his aides not to worry because they would feel comfortable in jail, and asked if it could be anything other than political retaliation.

Former President Lee Myung-bak, whose sentence was confirmed at 17 years, went to a hospital after postponing his reincarceration.

Former President Lee, dressed in a dark suit and a mask, got out of the car and entered the Seoul National University Hospital, supported by his wife, taking a slow pace.

He did not answer the journalist’s question about his heart.

It is known that I had received treatments in the endocrinology and gastroenterology services, initially the treatment was scheduled until the afternoon, but after completing the treatment early, I left the hospital and returned home in 40 minutes.

President Lee explained, “I received a prescription so I could take the medicine even after I was incarcerated.”

Shortly after the Supreme Court ruling, former President Lee told about 30 close associates who visited his home: “I know this is political retaliation, but can I do it?”

For the first time, former President Lee was arrested in March 2018.

At the first trial, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison and jailed, but was granted bail in March last year for aggravating chronic diseases such as diabetes.

Later, he was sentenced to 17 years in prison in the second trial and arrested again, but the request for a stay of execution was accepted and he was released again after six days.

However, when the Supreme Court confirmed the sentence of the second trial, he was tried again.

Former President Lee, 78 this year, suffers from a chronic illness, so there is a possibility that he will request a stay of execution.

In response, former President Lee said there are currently no plans to request a stay of the sentence.
