Do you use a lot of 5G phones these days?
It would be nice because it is said to be 20 times faster than 4G and the cost is higher, but it is hard to feel the difference with 4G when you use it.
When I saw how well 5G phones appeared in the subway, I found that the speed of 3G, which was 10 years ago, was not even faster, but in severe cases.
This is reporter Jeong Jin-wook.

With 10 million 5G subscribers ahead, you can now easily see the latest 5G phones on the subway.
By the way, how long will the 5G phone be used at full speed?
[황수현]“I think I use 5G for about 70 ~ 80% of the distance traveled.” [이금주]
“Sometimes it cuts out. I’m not sure the difference between 4G and 5G (the connection time).”
The government announced an average of 76.3% availability of 5G for the metro nationwide.
When connected for 1 hour, 46 minutes means it can use 5G.
However, this figure has been confirmed as a so-called “average trap”, which includes a large number of smaller local subways and only half of the Seoul subway.
As a result of the survey, the 5G availability rate of Seoul Subway Line 3 and Line 8 was only in the 26% range, and Line 2, even good, was lower than the national average by 64 %.
The deviation between carriers is more serious.
For LG U +, the availability of 5G on line 3 is 11%.
In particular, only 6% of Line 8 connected to 5G in 4 minutes during the 1-hour trip.
[김상희/ 국회 과학기술정보방송통신위원]“The variation in the availability of 5G is quite large, which clearly shows that the quality of 5G has not reached a certain level.”
When actual reporters looked around the subway with a 5G smartphone, most of them were connected only with LTE.
Even when capturing 5G, the number of base stations is small, so the speed was measured to be less than 1Mbps, the level of 3G 10 years ago.
[통신업계 관계자]“The Seoul subway is still building 5G, and we will try to build it as soon as possible so there is no inconvenience to the user.”
Experts note that when telcos receive 5G subscribers, they must accurately report the areas that they do not exploit and reduce the penalty for subscribers returning to 4G plans due to 5G failures.
