The statute of limitations for violations of the latest general election law 4.15 expires today.

Even lawmakers who have yet to decide whether to prosecute a prosecution are expected to reach a conclusion at midnight.
Let’s connect the reporters. Reporter Kim Woo-jun!
Most of the legislators who have been investigated have decided whether to prosecute, but who are the main legislators who have been put on trial?
[기자]We will start with the news that Representative Kim Hong-geol, former President Kim Dae-jung’s third son, has been indicted.
Representative Kim was a member of the Democratic Party, but was expelled on suspicion of a reduction in assets and is now independent.
Yesterday it was confirmed that the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office had indicted Kim without custody for violating the Public Officials Election Law.
In the process of registering as a candidate for the 21st National Assembly elections, Representative Kim is charged with omission of deposits for renting a 1 billion won business district, business district and apartment in the name of his wife.
According to the recent report on the ownership of the 21 newly registered members of the National Assembly by the National Assembly’s Public Officials Ethics Committee, Kim’s reported ownership was found to be 6.7 billion won in May, which equates to about 1 billion won than at the time of the general election.
Independent lawmaker Yang Jeong-sook, charged with similar charges, was also on trial.
Both lawmakers are also accused of failing to report a commercial building in Songpa-gu, Seoul, as property at the time of the general election.
Additionally, many lawmakers were brought to trial on charges of illegal election campaigns.
In addition, Democratic Party representative Jin Seong-joon attended a local residents event held in Gangseo-gu, Seoul in May, and was accused of running an illegal pre-election campaign, flaunting his past careers, including the Government Affairs of the Mayor of Seoul and the Secretary for Political Planning of the Blue House.
Representative Lee Sang-jik, who left the Democratic Party due to the Eastar crisis, was also put on trial for the same charge.
Representative Lee is accused of offering traditional liquor worth 26 million won to more than 300 constituencies when he was president of the Small and Medium Business Corporation last year.
In the opposition party, Representative Choi Chun-sik, the people’s power, was accused of writing a fake race on the campaign banner.
Representative Bae Joon-young, known as a spokesman for the People’s Force, accused of conducting an illegal pre-election campaign.
Former legislator Hong Chul-ho said he had confirmed the ‘extension of subway line 5’ on the election banner and was put on trial for publishing false information.
[앵커]Even today, the last day of the restrictions on prosecution for violations of the electoral law, is a new judicial decision coming out?
[기자]Yes it is.
The Cheongju District Prosecutor’s Office said this morning that it had prosecuted Representative Jeong Jeong-soon of the Korean Democratic Party on charges of violating the Election Law for public office.
Over the course of the 21 general elections, Legislator Chung is accused of violating the Public Officials Elections Law, the Political Funds Law and the Personal Information Protection Law, including allegations of accounting corruption.
The prosecution explained that since Chung refused to attend eight times, the prosecution was first separated and prosecuted for violations of the Election of Public Office Law without a face-to-face investigation.
The other complaints are in a position to determine whether or not they should be processed through a reinforcement investigation.
Previously, the prosecution requested an arrest warrant on 28 last month, when Chung did not respond to several requests for assistance.
On the 5th, a request for consent was submitted to the National Assembly.
Representative Ja-geun Koo, the people’s power, was also indicted today.
Rep. Koo is accused of visiting his acquaintances three times between December last year and January this year, promising to give him the post of assistant if he helps in the elections.
He has yet to be prosecuted against Representative Cho Su-jin and Representative Yoon Sang-hyun.
The prosecution must decide whether to process them before midnight today, the expiration date of the statute of limitations.
To date, there are at least 20 incumbent legislators who have been investigated by the prosecution for violating electoral laws.
If an elected official is sentenced to a fine of 1 million won or more for violating electoral law, the election will be invalidated and the position will be forfeited.
So far, the Ministry of Social Affairs has handed it over.
