Among commercial banks, the NACF, which is the most widely used for voice phishing, has invested funds worth 7 billion won and 35 manpower until last year to prevent this, but the damage caused by the fraud of Voice phishing has increased significantly.

As a result of the analysis of the data presented by the National Federation of Agricultural Cooperatives and the Nonghyup Bank, the representative Hong Mun-pyo of the Committee on Agriculture, Forestry, Livestock, Food, Marine and Fisheries of the National Assembly, 12,976 people were victims of a voice phishing scam through Nonghyup last year. The average damage per person was 12.86 million won.

This is a 38.1% increase in the number of voice phishing victims compared to the previous year, and the amount of damage has more than doubled.

The amount returned for the suspension of the account payment transaction through the fraud damage report was 64.8 billion won, which was only 17.7% of the total damage amount.

In the past five years, from 2016 to this year, 35,973 people committed voice phishing fraud through Nonghyup accounts, and the cumulative damage amounted to 366.4 billion won.

Even at the end of August this year, 3,839 people suffered 7 billion won of fraud, and damage from voice phishing through Agricultural Cooperatives was constantly occurring, indicating that critical measures are urgently needed.

67% of these victims were victims through local agricultural cooperatives in rural areas with relatively large numbers of older people, and 68% of the victims were based on the amount of damage.

Representative Hong Mun-pyo said, “The fact that voice phishing fraud crimes are increasing and getting smarter despite agricultural cooperatives investing huge budgets and manpower will be proof that prevention measures damage is inadequate. ” Said it needed to be built.
