This time, the confirmed case came from a pig farm in Sangseo-myeon, Hwacheon-gun, Gangwon-do.

Yesterday, three of the eight mother sows shipped from this pig farm died at the Cheorwon-gun slaughterhouse, Gangwon-do, and a field investigation was urgently launched by quarantine authorities.

As a result of collecting samples and conducting a thorough examination at the quarantine headquarters, it was finally confirmed as African swine fever at 5 a.m. today.

It has been exactly one year since the outbreak in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi-do, on October 9 last year, that a confirmed case of African swine fever appeared on national livestock farms.

Quarantine authorities have issued an order to temporarily halt the movement of livestock facilities, such as pig farms and slaughterhouses in Gyeonggi and Gangwon-do province, for 48 hours from 5 a.m. today to 5 a.m. on the 11th. .

Currently, emergency quarantine measures are being implemented, such as disinfection, while access to the farm is controlled by farm workers and outsiders.

In addition to the 940 pigs raised on the outbreak farm, 1,525 pigs from the nearby pig farm within a 10 km radius were to be quarantined.

In addition, we plan to conduct detailed inspections of all pig farms in the border area and check infection status by phone every day.

Previously, it was discovered that the farm had been under continuous quarantine management, such as the execution of a lookout post on July 27, when a wild boar outbreak occurred 250 meters away.

Consequently, the quarantine authorities estimate that this case was also spread through animals, people and vehicles entering and leaving the contaminated border area.
