Eight residents of Yangji Village, Jeongeup, confirmed Corona 19
No contact with residents for 2 weeks All residents are being inspected
Jeongeup City, nurseries and children’s centers are completely closed
On the 6th, Jeongeup City in Jeollabuk-do took “cohort isolation” measures against the residents of Yangji Village in Jeongwoo-myeon. It is the first time in Jeonbuk that the entire town has been quarantined after the Corona 19 incident. Cohort quarantine is a quarantine measure that completely blocks medical institutions or specific areas to prevent infectious diseases.
The quarantine authorities imposed cohort quarantine measures and prohibited 75 residents of Yangji village from leaving the village and having contact with neighbors until the 19th. In fact, it is a movement restriction similar to the closure of the village. The authorities set up a temporary clinic in the town hall and conducted a Corona 19 test on the 75 villagers (32 households).
Choi Jin-seok, director of Yangji Village, said, “I didn’t even dream that this would happen during the Christmas season,” he said. “Residents are waiting for the results after the test, but I am very concerned that there may be more confirmed cases.”
According to the quarantine authorities, the Corona 19 infection, which started with Mr. A (Jeongeup, 30 years old, female), confirmed 133 times on Jeollabuk-do, has spread to 7 family members, including 2 mother-in-law, 4 children and 1 biological brother. Neighbors who had contact with their in-laws were also confirmed (Jeonbuk No. 143, 70s, female).
Mr. A’s mother-in-law, Mr. B (No. 135, Jeollabuk-do), contacted eight residents in the city hall on the 3rd, and one of them was confirmed, raising the possibility that the number of confirmed cases increase further.
As a result of the investigation, Mr. A (No. 133, Jeonbuk) was not the first source of infection for this group, but his brother (No. 140, Jeonbuk) was the first source of infection. Quarantine authorities are preparing for the occurrence of additional confirmed cases related to case 140.
It is known that the 140th confirmed person lived in the Seoul area and came to Jeongeup at the end of last month. The confirmed person 140’s route of infection is under investigation. Authorities estimate that Mr. A, the sister of the 140th confirmed patient, became infected with Corona 19 in the process of visiting her brother’s home on Chuseok (1st) day.
At this time, the quarantine authorities are judging that the infected person 133 was in contact with his in-laws and relatives and spread Corona 19.
An official from the quarantine authorities said: “Regardless of the test results, the cohort quarantine measure will be in place for two weeks to block the spread of Corona 19” and “We plan to provide daily necessities to residents during the period control so that there are no inconveniences in life. ”
Meanwhile, Jeongeup City decided to close all daycare centers and children’s centers after 10 confirmed cases of corona19 occurred in the area in the past two days. As of the 18th, 879 facilities for the elderly and 17 facilities for the disabled were also closed, and the work program for the elderly was also completely suspended.
