Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-hwa, who is on an official visit to Vietnam for two days and one night, visited the Prime Minister of Vietnam, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, on the afternoon of the 17th.
Minister Kang’s first visit since March 2018 and he is the first Foreign Minister to officially visit Vietnam after Corona 19.
At this meeting, Minister Kang assessed: “Despite the somewhat difficulties that the two countries experienced in the early days of the coronavirus outbreak, many important achievements have been made based on deep trust and active communication.”
In particular, the fact that nearly 9,000 Korean businessmen, students and their families, the largest influx of foreigners into Vietnam, shows how important the strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries is beyond the symbolic aspect.
Minister Kang said: “However, there are still many small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) facing business difficulties due to the burden of long quarantine periods and are unable to enter Vietnam.” did.
Prime Minister Phuc also sympathized with this, responding that “an internal review is underway to prepare more favorable conditions for entry procedures for essential personnel such as Korean businessmen.”
The two also spoke on pending issues between the two countries after Corona 19.
Prime Minister Phuc said that he would draw the attention of the Korean side so that Vietnamese products could access the Korean market more easily, and Minister Kang said that he would make various efforts to create a more balanced trade relationship between the two countries.
Minister Kang said he hoped that the social security agreement between Korea and Vietnam would be concluded as soon as possible so that 50,000 domestic workers in the other country could benefit substantially. He said that he attaches great importance to the conclusion of the agreement.
Minister Kang explained that Korean medical device manufacturers are experiencing confusion as the bidding regulations of Vietnam’s public medical institutions were promulgated, and requested interest and support in solving difficulties for our company. He said he would actively seek ways to resolve the matter.
Prime Minister Phuc said: “I hope that the ASEAN-related summit in November will be held as a face-to-face meeting to invite President Moon Jae-in to Vietnam again.”
Meanwhile, Minister Kang entered the country through Hanoi Airport on the morning of this day using a special exception entry measure. On the 18th, Pham Bing-ming will meet with the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister for Foreign Affairs and discuss current issues between the two countries.
