Previously, in December 2008, Cho Doo-soon was brought to trial on charges of rape and injury by kidnapping an eight-year-old girl who lived in the same neighborhood in front of a church in Danwon-gu, Ansan-si, Gyeonggi. do.

The prosecution sought life in prison in Cho Doo-soon at the first trial, but the court sentenced him to 12 years in prison, commuting the upper limit of abandonment in a single case from 15 years to 3 years, considering that he was in state. intoxicated. At that time, the prosecution dropped the appeal at that time, saying: “It is customary to seek an indefinite sentence and appeal if you are sentenced to prison for less than 7 years. However, after the Supreme Court decision was finalized , public resentment continued and the prosecution said it was wrong to drop the appeal late.

In the meantime, Cho Doo-soon, who is currently in Pohang Prison, has been interviewing psychological counselors since last July. The Ansan Probation Office plans to implement a distorted sexual awareness enhancement program after the release of Jo Doo-soon.

The Justice Ministry plans to do everything possible to prevent recidivism, including individual electronic monitoring when Cho Doo-soon is released.
