Professor Kyung-Shim Chung of Dongyang University attends a trial on charges such as private equity funds and corruption in the children’s entrance examination held at the Seoul Central District Court in Seocho-gu, Seoul, on the morning of Day 3. Reporter Woo Sang-jo

Professor Jeong Gyeong-shim from Dongyang University, held at Part 25-2 of the Criminal Agreement of the Seoul Central District Court (Judge Lim Jeong-yeop) on the 8th, was attended by Professor Kang Mo, former director of admission of Dongyang University. He said in a press interview in the past, “Professor Jung’s daughter Jo Min came to Dongyang University in Yeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do for a considerable period of volunteer work, and other professors agreed to give them citations.” However, Choi Seong-hae, president of Tong Yang University, claimed that he had never issued a subpoena, and the prosecution believes that Professor Chung used the forged summons for admission, although he did not actually volunteer.

At the trial that day, the main question was whether Professor Kang actually saw Mr. Jo who came as a volunteer. Prof. Jeong’s witness said: “I remember that time” to the lawyer’s question: “Is it the summer of 2012 when I first saw Cho at Dongyang University?” “I remember that Mr. Cho received pocket money from Choi at that time,” he said. “I couldn’t say it correctly, but I did see it several times during the 2012 summer break.”

However, when the prosecutor asked, “I testified that the English academy opening ceremony was held on the date Mr. Cho received the summons on September 7, 2012, did anyone receive the award?” Professor Kang replied, “I don’t know.” Even when asked, “Didn’t you participate in the opening ceremony?” Or “Have you ever heard that Mr. Cho won the award?” He replied, “I don’t remember well.” To another question, “How do you remember the words I said, how do you remember them all?” And “How do you remember them all?” Chief Judge Lim Jung-yeop said, “You should save your memories and answer them.”

Judge Lim led the trial by asking witnesses when important statements were made while the prosecution witness newspaper continued that day. In particular, when it became known that his testimony that he had seen Mr. Cho was the story he had heard, he asked again.

Judge “When I was director of admissions, I said to a fellow teacher, ‘I saw myself volunteering for Jomin. Have you ever said something like “I have to give you a subpoena”?
Professor Kang “I didn’t say I saw it myself.”
Judge “So the witness couldn’t see Mr. Cho. How did you know I was working as a volunteer? Did you know that you were doing volunteer work after listening to Professor Kyung-Shim Chung? ”
Professor Kang “I heard you know.”

Deputy Judge Lim asked if Professor Kang knew exactly about the appointment on behalf of President Choi, the most troublesome.

Judge “Do you know what procedure was issued on behalf of the Tong Yang University president in question?”
Professor Kang “I do not know”.
Judge “Do you know if President Sung-Hae Choi allowed Professor Jeong to issue a subpoena?”
Professor Kang “I remember Choi didn’t broadcast it ….”
Judge “Please answer the questions I ask.”
Professor Kang “I do not know.”
Judge “I don’t know? Just answer that. You did a really good job.”

On the other hand, Professor Kang said on the same day: “I felt like my boss because I was close to the president at that time” and “Professor Jeong had the same authority as the president.” When the lawyer asked, “Is there anyone who became a teacher on the recommendation of Professor Jeong?”, He replied, “I found out later, but I heard that I recommended Professor Jin Jung-kwon.” He replied, “I thought it was the moment when Choi said that he had never given a subpoena,” and said, “I knew it was pretty close until the day before.”
