[기자]In April last year, a 13-year-old high school girl was found dead in a reservoir in Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do.
Soon after, 32-year-old Kim Mo gives up and says that he is the culprit.
He learned that his stepdaughter had reported sexual harassment with the help of her father, killed her and dumped her body in a warehouse.
[김 모 씨 / ‘의붓딸 살해’ 피의자(지난해 5월) : (딸에게 한 말씀만 해주세요.) 미안하다…. 정말 미안하고, 죄송합니다.]It was investigated that Mr. Kim persuaded his mother-in-law, as if the stepdaughter was at fault, and they committed a crime together.
The prosecution turned the couple over to trial on charges of murder and abandonment.
During the trial, they argued against whether they were accomplices.
Mr. Kim said that they had planned the crime together, but Yoo insisted that he couldn’t stop it because he was scared.
However, the first trial did not accept Yu’s argument.
Rather, it was considered reasonable to think that her daughter had been instructed to kill her in anger because she had had inappropriate contact with her husband.
He sentenced the two to 30 years in prison, saying severe punishment was inevitable.
Mr. Kim was also ordered to complete the sexual violence treatment program, release personal information, and restrict employment in institutions related to children and adolescents.
They appealed that the sentence was too severe, but the same sentence was upheld in the second trial.
The Supreme Court also confirmed the verdict as it was, saying that the lower court’s ruling could not be considered unfair.
