Hyundai BS&C Chairman Chung Dae-sun did not attend, but Ms Migrant, his mother, and Hyun-jung Roh, a former KBS announcer, did.
The Beomhyundae family members and the group’s executives and staff members plan to visit Seonyeong, Changwoo-dong, Hanam-si, Gyeonggi-do around the 21st.
Jung Joo-young who did the ‘Han River miracle’
Honorary President Chung is considered a representative person who created the ‘Han River Miracle’. Born in 1915 in Asan-ri, Songjeon-myeon, Tongcheon-gun, Gangwon-do, the eldest son of six sons and two daughters from a poor farm, President Emeritus Chung, at the age of 16, raised his dream of become an entrepreneur taking 70 won of small money to go to Tokyo. In 1931, when he was 18 years old, he started his first business by acquiring ‘Bokheung Sanghoe’, a rice shop in Seoul where he worked.
In 1946, he founded ‘Hyundai Motor Company’ in Cho-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, and created the name ‘Hyundai’, and the following year he established ‘Hyundai Construction Company’, the predecessor of Hyundai E&C. Having been triumphantly in the construction industry through the post-Korean War restoration project, he worked a miracle in 1971, setting off for London, England with just a business plan and photograph of Mipo’s white sand beach.
