Lim Hyo-jun, who was the ace of the men’s national team, won a gold medal in the 1,500m short track at the PyeongChang Olympic Games and a bronze medal in the 500m.

After completing the special naturalization process in China, I received my Chinese passport and left for China yesterday.

Im Hyo-jun, who is scheduled to join the national team training as soon as the self-quarantine is completed, will compete in the Beijing Olympics next year as the representative of China if he passes to the national team.

It is known that Im Hyo-jun decided to naturalize after hard work due to the judgment that it would already be difficult to properly interpret a player’s life in Korea.

Two years ago, during national team training, he was accused of pulling down the pants of a male junior to expose parts of his body, and was acquitted in the second trial late last year. It is known that there was a great sense of crisis that the player’s life could end since it is because he could not train properly.

This is not the first time a high-level short track athlete has chosen to naturalize.

In 2011, Ahn Hyun-soo became naturalized in Russia and, under the name Victor An, participated in the Sochi Olympics and won three crowns.

Currently, the short-track team in China is led by coach Kim Sun-tae, who led the Korean team at the PyeongChang Olympics.
