“LH Speculation, Investigate Thoroughly”
與 A memorandum ‘Goodbye Chang-heum resignation card’
On the 5th, President Nak-yeon Lee and the Chairman of the Democratic Party, Byeon Chang-heum, and the Chairman of the Korea Land Corporation (LH), Jang Choong-mo, called on the 5th to censor the allegations of speculation in the third new city by LH employees and ordered a thorough investigation.
When asked, ‘What did CEO Lee order?’, Minister Byeon said, “Do not be prejudiced, please do a thorough investigation in principle and release the results to the public.”
Some members of the Democratic Party argue that “Minister Byun must be held accountable” because the timing of the speculation allegations coincided with the period during which Minister Byeon served as LH chairman. It is that political decisions such as resignation from ministerial position are necessary.
This is because the bad news that broke out with less than a month to go in the April 7 by-elections could negatively affect the approval ratings of the party and the government. In addition, it is argued that it is difficult to face it without decision, since the demand of the government to cancel a new city for the 3rd phase, which was driven by the stabilization of house prices, is also fading. In response, opposition parties are criticizing whether the Democratic Party has passed responsibility to the LH and has started cutting the tail.
Earlier, the Democratic Party leadership harshly criticized allegations of speculation by LH employees, saying, “I will impose heavy penalties and return the proceeds of speculation.” Rep. Lee said on Facebook the day before: “If the speculation allegations are revealed to be true, we ask the government to mobilize all methods allowed by law to punish with the utmost severity.” If a housing-related public official uses job-related information for personal gain, we will also review ways to recoup speculative earnings along with legal penalties. “
