36 employees including the director of security management and 4 external advisors
[에너지신문] To improve the safety of hydrogen products, Korea Gas Safety Corporation (Chairman Hae-jong Lim), an organization dedicated to hydrogen safety, formed a hydrogen safety infrastructure (TFT) construction working group under the supervision of the Hydrogen Safety Technology Institute under construction and held a kick-off meeting. This TFT is attended by Yeon-jae Lee, director of safety management of Gas Safety Corporation and 36 employees from nine internal departments, and Chungcheongbuk-do, Hyundai Motor Company and Korea Transportation Safety Authority provide services of external advice.
At the meeting that day, the detailed construction schedule and execution plan of the hydrogen product inspection support center and the hydrogen bus test and evaluation center and charging station were reviewed. In addition, general discussions were held for the establishment of a hydrogen safety infrastructure, such as the establishment and amendment of inspection standards for hydrogen products, the establishment of inspection processes, and the construction of hydrogen container testing facilities. large-scale ultra-high pressure.
The TFT hydrogen safety infrastructure is in charge of establishing a hydrogen product inspection support center that performs the safety management of hydrogen products, and a hydrogen bus and charging station test and evaluation center that assesses the safety performance of large hydrogen bus parts (commercial vehicles) and hydrogen charging station parts.
The Hydrogen Product Inspection Support Center is a testing laboratory that performs safety inspections on four types of hydrogen products in accordance with the enactment of the hydrogen law, including mobile and stationary fuel cells, fuel facilities, water electrolysis and hydrogen extraction facilities, and the hydrogen bus and The test evaluation center of the charging station is a hydrogen bus, etc. It is a testing laboratory that performs tests on containers and components mounted on large hydrogen vehicles and on components of hydrogen filling stations.
The inspection support center site is currently under public offering, and the test and evaluation center site for the hydrogen bus and the charging station parts is expected to be built at the Seongbon Industrial Complex, Eumseong -gun, Chungbuk. On the 4th of last month, the Corporation signed a business agreement with Eumseong-gun for the hydrogen bus testing and evaluation center.
With this TFT as an organization, the KTO plans to establish product development and inspection standards for the inspection of hydrogen products and hydrogen bus parts in accordance with the implementation of the hydrogen law through the rapid construction of safety infrastructure. hydrogen. In addition, it plans to actively carry out work to expand the safety of hydrogen products, such as expanding the inspection elements for parts of hydrogen filling stations.
Hae-jong Lim, Chairman of Gas Safety Corporation, said: “We will try to successfully promote the hydrogen industry ecosystem promoted by the government, as the roadmap to activate the hydrogen economy.”
