Additional subsidies for the purchase of used electric vehicles and LPG vehicles after early scrapping
Seasonal fine dust management system Priority support for diesel vehicles trapped in operating restrictions in the metropolitan area
In addition, an additional subsidy is provided when a car owner who has abandoned it early purchases a used car with emission levels from 1 to 2, such as electric cars.
On the 5th, the Ministry of Strategy and Finance and the Ministry of the Environment prepared and announced a plan to expand the project to support the early scrapping of old diesel vehicles with grade 5 emissions this year.
The early scrapping of old diesel vehicles is a project to fundamentally reduce the old diesel vehicles themselves, which are the source of air pollutants such as ultrafine dust.
This year’s early scrapping support project is being promoted to offset restrictions on rights of movement due to restrictions on the operation of old diesel vehicles, such as the seasonal fine dust management system.
The upper limit for early scrapping support will be increased from 3 million won to 6 million won for vehicles that cannot be equipped with an emission reduction device among older exhaust class 5 diesel vehicles weighing gross of less than 3.5 tons, or for vehicles owned by livelihood owners, commercial and small businesses.
In the case of early scrapping of the vehicle, first 70% of the upper limit of the support fund is granted and 30% for subsequent purchases of vehicles.
In addition, additional subsidies, which were supported only for the purchase of new cars, excluding diesel cars after scrapping of old diesel cars, are also paid when purchasing used cars with emission levels 1 and 2, such as cars electric, hydrogen cars, hybrid cars. , gasoline and LPG cars.
Considering that most of the old diesel car owners are low income people and prefer to buy used cars after scrapping, 30% of the maximum total subsidy, up to KRW 1.8 million, is provided as an additional subsidy .
The Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of the Environment expect the expansion and reorganization of the subsidy system to reduce the repurchase rate of diesel vehicles and increase the effect of improving the air environment.
This year’s early scrapping of old diesel vehicles is expected to announce plans for early scrapping of old vehicles by local governments starting on the 5th.
A government official said: “We will do everything possible to reduce the fine dust emitted by cars and support the vulnerable by promoting the improved system of subsidies for early scrapping.”
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Environment decided to cooperate with local governments to provide priority support to vehicles trapped in the Seoul Metropolitan Area Level 5 vehicle operating restrictions during the second seasonal fine dust management system since December of last year until March.
