The results of the investigation by the National Human Rights Commission into the alleged sexual harassment of the late Mayor Park Won-soon will be released tomorrow (25).

Unlike the police, who were unable to come to a cold conclusion due to Mayor Park’s death, I am interested in whether or not to produce a clear result.

In July last year, a suspicion of sexual harassment arose with the disappearance of former Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon.

However, after five months, the police concluded that the investigation was ended empty-handed and “without public prosecution”.

Police said the investigation was difficult because mobile phone forensic tests were not carried out as Mayor Park was found dead.

Unlike the police, who were unable to reach such a conclusion, the court recently drew attention when the court commented on the purpose of acknowledging the facts of sexual harassment.

In another case in which this victim was sexually assaulted, the judge in charge noted that the victim suffered considerable mental suffering from the sexual assault by Mayor Park.

Interest in the different interpretations of judicial and research institutions has now focused on what kind of research the NHRCK will present.

In July of last year, the Human Rights Commission unanimously conducted an ex officio investigation into allegations of sexual harassment by Mayor Park.

Since then, the investigation is known to have ended and reports have been produced until recently.

The results of the investigation of allegations of sexual harassment are discussed in the all-in-one committee, which is the highest voting body.

There are voices that point out the limitations of the NHRCK, which initially did not have the right to mandatory investigation and the scope of response was limited to recommendations to improve the system, but it is noteworthy whether it will be possible to discover the background of sexual harassment as the subject who is investigating the case last.
