[경제]Payment of the third disaster grant began … “in the midst of the drought”

The third disaster subsidy payment began today to small businesses that were directly affected by Corona 19.

On the site there were complaints of being confused because they did not know when and how much support money could be received, along with the ‘rain from drought’ reaction.

Hae-seong Kang has been running a restaurant for drivers in Seoul for 5 years.

Since the end of last year, social distancing has risen to 2.5 steps and sales have dropped 40%.

[강해성 / 서울 북가좌동 : 일주일에 두세 번 오던 손님도 일주일에 한 번, 아니면 2주에 한 번 그렇게 오니까 매출이 감소할 수밖에 없죠.]

The number of customers has been cut in half, but the burden of rent and food costs remains the same, so a penny is urgently needed.

The disaster relief text message received in the morning is a reaction to the fact that it is rain during the drought.

[강해성 / 서울 북가좌동 : (안내) 따라서 신청하니까 빨리했죠. 조금이라도 빨리하면 더 빨리 지원금이 들어올까 하고 해봤죠. // 장사가 안되면 쌓이는 게 빚밖에 없는데, 그런 데서 도움이 되는 거죠.]

Kim Dong-wook, who has been running a cafe in central Seoul since last year, has yet to receive a disaster assistance text message.

This is because the new targets can only receive support funds in mid-March, after the VAT report review is complete.

[김동욱 / 서울 연남동 : (재난지원금이) 없으면 살아남을 수 없는 상황이죠. 이 지역 자체가 월세가 높은 편인데 현재 매출로는 도저히 감당할 수 없으니까, 그게 없으면 월세도 낼 수 없는 상황입니다.]

It is also a frustrating part of not knowing when and how much to receive disaster grants that vary by industry.

[김동욱 / 서울 연남동 : 저 같은 경우에는 음식점으로 신고를 낸 다음에 카페를 하고 있단 말이에요. 그러면 (지원금이) 200만 원인지, 100만 원인지 경계도 참 애매모호 하고….]

The government has warned that the ‘third disaster grant’ can only be received if it was opened before November 30 last year.

Furthermore, he added that he asked to confirm the target in advance, as annual sales are less than 400 million won and subsidies can only be received if sales decline from 2019.
