They lifted part of the hull of a sinking fishing boat in Jeju … The body found was a ‘Korean sailor’

[아시아경제 호남취재본부(제주) 황정필 기자] At the end of last year, part of the hull of the 32 people who sank after being overthrown in the Jeju Sea was raised.

According to the Jeju Coast Guard on the 4th, it is known that there were no missing persons on board after lifting a part of the capsized ship’s hull around 1:24 pm the same day.

Earlier, at around 12:30 on that day, the body found by the Marine Police Rescue Team while searching about 120 m in the direction of the red lighthouse on the jeju West harbor breakwater was identified as a Korean sailor Jang Mo ( born in 55) through a fingerprint identification.

The Jeju Coast Guard plans to confirm the cause of the accident through joint identification with related agencies in the raised hull portion, and will continue the underwater search tomorrow, the eighth day of the accident.

The 32-man Minho (32t class) of Jeju Hallim was ousted at 7:44 pm on 29 last month at sea, 2.6 km northwest of Jeju Port, and then collided with the West Breakwater of Jeju Port in the morning of the next day and sank.

At the time of the accident, there were 7 sailors on board, including 4 Koreans and 3 Indonesians. To date, all three bodies have been discovered and identified, but the remaining four have yet to be found.

Meanwhile, on the seventh day of the accident, the Jeju Coast Guard mobilized all available resources of 31 boats and fishing boats, 6 aircraft, 1,002 on land and 91 underwater to focus on the search.
