In Gwangju, more than 100 new coronavirus (Corona 19) infections were confirmed during the three days of the holiday, raising awareness since the beginning of the new year.
Amid the steady number of confirmed cases related to existing infectious agents, a large-scale cluster infection occurred in nursing hospitals, raising concern.
According to Gwangju City on the 3rd, 104 were confirmed in less than three days, including 13 on the 1st, 26th on the 2nd and 65 at 2pm on the 3rd, and the number of confirmed local cases rose to 1,202.
In particular, this day registered a much higher number than on August 26 (39), when the number of confirmed cases was the highest in Gwangju.
Over two days, 62 people, including 53 hospitalized patients and 9 employees, were confirmed at Hyojeong Nursing Hospital alone.
In addition to the existing confirmed cases related to group infections such as the Doctor’s Sports Club, Gwangju Christian Hospital and Evergreen Nursing Home, there were also cases of confirmed cases of contact with the patient confirmed and whose route the route was not confirmed.
Quarantine authorities are concentrating their capabilities on minimizing the occurrence of deaths and additional confirmed cases in relation to the group infection at Gwangju Hyojeong Nursing Hospital.
On this day, the city of Gwangju decided to hold a countermeasures meeting with the response group of the Accident Control Headquarters (Jungsubon) nursing facility and organize a group for seriously ill patients with the participation of the National University Hospital of Chonnam, Chosun University Hospital, and Hyojeong Nursing Hospital officials.
Through close communication between the authorities and medical institutions, it was decided to immediately transfer to a university hospital with a bed in the event of a serious incident.
As 51 of the 53 confirmed hospitalized patients occurred on the second floor of the main building, 2 confirmed patients on the first floor were transferred to the second floor.
Thirteen contacts on the second floor, who had not been diagnosed with confirmation, decided to manage the sections separately.
Hospitalized patients who test negative are transferred to another nursing hospital and a genetic amplification test (PCR) is also performed on patients and workers once every three days.
Separately, a rapid antigen test is performed daily for workers to confirm the results immediately.
Since December 21 last year, Gwangju banned visits to nursing hospitals, psychiatric facilities and hospitals and restricted access to outsiders.
Despite the ban on workers from visiting other facilities and private gatherings, a group infection has occurred and quarantine authorities are identifying the cause of the infection.
Group infection was confirmed during the third examination during the periodic examination of workers in high-risk facilities, such as nursing hospitals.
On December 7 of last year all the negatives were heard.
Gwangju City Administration Deputy Mayor Kim Jong-hyo said: “Due to the nature of nursing hospitals, workers and others must work with a sense of professional ethics. If an administrative order is violated, we will take strong measures such as indictment, imposition of fines and orders to suspend the operation “.
